Something I have learned over the years. There are several ways to track VIN numbers in a specific state the first obviously is the DMV of the state, the second is the tax commission of the state. Many states keep records of any liens on the VIN. We once tracked a1969 through five states, 17 owners and two repossessions. Actually talked to 13 of the 17 owners, ultimately ended up with a copy of the MSO and talked to the original owner, original salesman, and original service manager who was able to provide some service records. Also talked the original owner and his father. He was returning from Vietnam who saw the car on the showroom floor and decided he had to have it. Good hunting to all.
