I have read that on a 68 the removal of the rear shock mount "L" bolt with the strut rod is a real job, mine are rusted fast. I have been spraying them with penetrating oil for about a week now. I understand that VanSteel makes a tool for removal that will not damage the threads, but you still need to beat on the bolt. As an alternate could I use a torch to heat the assembly (not the bolt) so it expands and the bolt comes out easier? Or am I going to potentially damage the casting from the heat?
Any suggestions are appreciated.
