Re: C3 - Broken Body To Frame Mounting Bolt
At the #2 body mount their is a hole in the frame . A square nut inside a sheet metal cage to keep it from turning is welded on top of the frame. This allows for movement of the nut during assembly. The body mount bolts usually come thru the nut 1/2 inch and are very rusty and hard to get WD-40 on. The fix in a body off is to weld on a new cage with a new nut or drill out and retap the nut. To do this with the body on I can't think of a way to do it and I have never got all the bolts out of #2and #3 without one breaking off or turning in the cage it is a common problem.Lyle

Jim, Lyle hit it right on the head. Hard for me to imagine fixing without lifting---think you are in for lots more work. Just know that to lift, even if partially up so you have room to repair you are going to have to raise the body high enough to clear the sill channel AND then a little higher. Sure you are already thnking and planning--I started out originally only repairing the cowl area on my son's 72 convertible. It turned into a "bodyoff" as we proceeded. Best of luck!- Top

Re: C3 - Broken Body To Frame Mounting Bolt
Lyle & Bill ..........thanks for the help.
Like a good doobee I soaked all the fasteners with Liquid Wrench for about a week and the best looking bolt in the bunch was #2. (all the rest came out fine.!) I'm going to try a 90 degree drill chuck on my drill and see if I can tap it from the top before I do a major lift.- Top

Re: C3 - Broken Body To Frame Mounting Bolt
Had to heat these bolts up myself on my 68 as well as the #1,3&4 mounts.
Penetrating oil alone wouldn't touch my north country queen's fused bolts and I had to go the firey helper route with a well placed cutting torch.
If your still having problems and want, give me a hit at my web address and I will fill you in on what I did as my process was intense and is laced with cautions. Hope you won't have to though.
Good luck,
