    Restoration carb from Jeg's?

Last year the Holley corporation decided that manufacturing new carburetors for restorations wasn't worth their trouble. They stopped making most of the old Corvette List numbers such as the 3810, 2818, 3370, 3247, etc. to concentrate on their line of performance carburetors.

However, Holley is still making the '66 3367. This is a good fit for most of the '66-7 hydraulic lifter engines. The best price I've seen lately for a new one is from Jeg's. Their part number 510-O-3367 is priced at $409.99 plus $7 shipping.

Now if you want a Quadra-pump Dominatrix 2000 cfm chokeless 4-barrel from Holley, you can take your pick from their current 2 inch thick catalog. If you want a sissy-boy stock carburetor for a Corvette, you can buy a 3367 or go to hell.

    Clarification

Several people have contacted me about this post. They were disturbed by it, and seemed confused as to its meaning. Here is a simpler version of my message with no attempt at humor:

Holley has recently stopped making many Corvette carburetors.

One is still available new, the 1966 design with List #3367.

Jeg's sells them for about $410.

Holley doesn't really care about the restoration market.

Please forgive me for trying to be funny on this board. It won't happen again. Corvette restoration should always be discussed in deadly serious tones with much frowning. I realize that now.

      Hey Jerry:

In your profile, you call yourself "a grim and humorless old man". I'm glad to see you took some happy pills. "Fu--"em if they can't take a joke".

        Jerry,
Don't worry about it, as there were many of us who recognized the post for what it was!

your "confession" is acceptable to "god". for your penance, say three our fathers and three hail marys, or, better yet, find the front oil drips on three c-2s.
          best, werner

Thank You for The Clarification, Jerry...

I was most concerned that you were actually enjoying your post...

In the future, it would be appreciated if you would refer to a Carburetor as follows:

"An Air/Fuel Mixture Device with Nozzles and other Ancillary Valves for Proper Atomization of the Combined Elements to Enhance Detonation of Various Size Rotating Pistons and Intake / Exhaust Valves Contained / Housed in the Cylinder Case".

I think if you use the above language everyone will know exactly what you are talking about, and everyone can then keep frowning and moving, uh, ... forward ???
