1965 was the first year that a P-O-P was used.

Tom, I'm not sure, my records on this subject only go up to 1967. Therefore, I can only safely say that it was 65-67----maybe soneone else can help with the last usage.

            No Canadian Protect-o-plate in '72

Joe -- Can't say for sure if Canadian-delivered '71 Corvettes had a P-O-P or not, but I know my '72 convertible # 8196 [the only new car I ever owned] did NOT have one. I have the MANY dealer warranty work orders from this car, and all were filled in by hand. I got only the embossed owners card. Yet I know my '65 covertible # 4835 had one, as I have the early warranty work orders, but no owner's name / address tape was evident.

Maybe other Canuck members can confirm when P-O-P's stopped emigrating North-of-40.

Wayne, was your 65 sold new here in Canada? My 66 was and the Canadian warranty book that came with it says (in English and French, of course) that a plate would be mailed (from GM of Canada, presumably) to the new owner. In it also are clear intructions for the owner to affix the plate to the warranty book. Unfortunately, my warranty book has no plate of any kind, so the original owner of my car may have not done so, or perhaps, not received a plate at all.

              Any thoughts?

Thank You everyone for the posts. I have just purchased a 10,930 mile 1964 Coupe from the original owner, and have received every piece of documentation but a Protect-O-Plate. Now I know why. Thanks again, Bill Pankiw

                    Wayne - Re: Canadian Protect-O-Plates

Wayne, I got everything about the car that GM Vintage Services had to offer.

I am anxious to examine an original window sticker from a Canadian delivered Corvette (circa 1966) and also an original Protect-O-Plate. I strongly suspect that they differ from those accompanying U.S. delivered Corvettes. I've had no luck yet finding anyone with examples to show me.

Re: Wayne - Re: Canadian Protect-O-Plates

In the Camaro side of my hobby, we've seen numerous Canadian-delivered '67-'69 cars with their documentation intact, and Canadian-delivered Camaros didn't get P-O-P's; they have GM of Canada white plastic cards (the size of a credit card)with the typical P-O-P information embossed on them, and bi-lingual Owner Protection Plan/Warranty Folders. Don't know if Canadian-delivered Corvettes used the same process or not, but I assume they would, as both were Chevrolet products.
