    C2 dash bulbs

I've sent the dash cluster out to be restored and while it's gone I thought that I would replace the bulbs, as some were not working. My question is, what are the correct bulb numbers. It seems that someone has replaced some, as I have a mix of 1816 and it looks like 95? The brake and light bulbs that flash work fine. Is the glove box bulb the same as the dash bulbs? BTW it's a 65.

    Thanks

Your owners manual will tell you what type goes where.

Donald, I don't have an owners manual and the AIM gives part numbers. I just need bulb numbers.

        Dan,

I own a '66 and my owner's manual list the following bulb types:
(I just recently restored my dash and all electrical components including wiring harness and these are the bulbs that I used and everything lit perfectly)
        Instrument Panel: 1816
        Glove Box Lamp: 1893
        Ignition Switch: 1445
        Headlamp Beam Indicator: 1445
        Electric Clock: 1816
        Radio Dial: 1816
        Cigarette Lighter: 1445
Parking Brake Alarm: 257 (Could this be your 95?)
        Headlight Motor Warning: 257
        Directional Signal Indicators: 1816

It seems a good guess that your '65 would use the same bulb types. Hope
        this helps.

Dan, why not get a complete bulb package from one of the vendors and replace all the bulbs. I would think this cheap insurance against having to pull the cluster to replace the old bulbs that are now working should they go south on you. Just my .02...

Terry, Thanks, this is just what I needed.
Dan, I am replacing them all, I just didn't know what they should be, as someone had previously replaced some with anything that would plug in.

Terry, no, the 257's work fine. Closer inspection revealed that some of the 1816 bulbs were replaced with 1895. As I'm getting older the dash lights seem to be getting dimmer. I wonder where one can find the relative candle power of those bulbs? Maybe use some brighter ones for the instrument panel bulbs?

                Dan,

Here is my list again only with the Candle Power listed after the bulb type:

                Instrument Panel: 1816 (3)
                Glove Box Lamp: 1893 (3)
                Ignition Switch: 1445 (1)
                Headlamp Beam Indicator: 1445 (1)
                Electric Clock: 1816 (3)
                Radio Dial: 1816 (3)
                Cigarette Lighter: 1445 (1)
                Parking Brake Alarm: 257 (2)
                Headlight Motor Warning: 257 (2)
                Directional Signal Indicators: 1816 (3)

Good Luck! Even after I installed new bulbs a few of the gauges still seem dim but I liken that to getting older.

Thanks again Terry. Now does anyone know where I might find the candelpower of a 1895 buld, since I know it fits. Maybe it'll be a little brighter.
