    69 Wiper actuator

I searched the archives and found a few posts on the style of the actuator. My car is #27107, about 10K after the 3rd edition manual says the switch was made to the dual-pie pan style (about 17xxx I think - I don't have the book handy). Several folks posted that they have cars later than this that still have the cannister. My car has the cannister now, and it appears as though the bracket 'ears' may have been straightened out to allow it to fit - but I can't tell for sure.

Has there been anything more definitive on this subject published? I need to replace the actuator, and would like to get the correct one.

Also, regardless of actuator style, the TIM&JG only talks about a single rubber bellows type - three bellows plus one on each end - being used. The pie pan style actuators I've seen have a conical-shaped bellows on them. Assuming my 69 should use this later style actuator, should it still have the older style bellows or should it use the conical style?

    Thanks,
    Jon #10673

    Re: 69 Wiper actuator

The 69 I had was 33,334 and still had the original canister. I had a Dobin's fact book which had a few pics. of the canister switch over point. He gave a build date of a car that was earlier than my car by just one day, as I remember, that still had the canister. I have not seen a later 69 than mine so I do not know if the canister went longer than this. David

p.s. My car was so late that the rear end had a three leter ratio stamp, like a 70, instead of the usual two leter earlier style. The car was built in October.

Jon, My 69 was 33,334. and had the canister. The Dobbin's fact book shows some pic.s and text about the switch point. He had info about a car that was one day earlier than my build date that still had the can. My car was an October build and had the three leter rear gear ratio stamp (like a 70) rather than the two leter style. David

        Jon------

My original owner 69 built about 2000 units after yours used the "coffee-can" style cannister. I don't think that the dual pie-pan type came into use until much later---perhaps November or December, 1969

I formerly owned '69 #31666 and it had a canister. The history, receipts and original parts I got with the car led me to believe that it was built that way.
