Removed the header beam and bonding strip. Have a few spots to remove adhesive, and a few spots the adhesive came off, taking some surface with it and leaving exposed fiber glass strands.
I have an NOS bonding strip that has a sort of gray primer on the bond side. I noticed when I took the old piece out of the car this same gray prime was on the underside of the surround bond surface as well. Here come the questions.
(1) Where the underside of the surround has exposed fiber strands, do I need to resin fill it smooth or will the new adhesive take care of this when I install the new bond strip?
(2)Do I need to find this gray prime and apply to the underside of the surround before the bonding strip to aid adhesion?
(3) The Dr. doesn't have the metal beam. I see paragon carries it, but I'm not sure the rivet holes are in the piece. Any other source for this piece? I intend to install the with the rivets.
