C3-T-Top storage bags

Did some years come with color coordinated t-top storage bags, or were they all factory black? If so what years came with which?

My 70 VIN #14803 has a saddle comfortweave interior and has dated saddle T-Top bags. Can't speak for later years.

Gregg, during early years of C3s, the bags were color coordinated with the interior at the beginning of each production year. As supplies ran out, black was used in all cars regardless of interior color. I don't know when this practice stopped; it is referenced in the 1968-69 and 1970-72 JGs. Lyle certainly knows '73s much better than I so take his word on that.

Reba 73-74 TIM&JG wording is the same so matching colors early would be ok. I have not seen any but I don't judge interior very often and my Nov. 72 med, saddle interior has original dated black bags. I am sure if I ask a 73 interior judge I can find out if early 73's have been seen with color cooordinated bags. Lyle

I was just curious in trying to help out a newbie on the other forum. Now I really have an interest, as there seem's to be unbroken ground in this subject.

I have my originals, and yes they are black, date coded 6/73. I hope this has not opened a Pandora's Box. If so, well, what is it? COLOR CODED OR NOT AND FOR WHAT YEARS?

I have a problem with early and late as the bags never changed just the model year. Gregg you can be the bag man and try to find the real deal on when where and why some bags match the interior and others are black. How many colors red, green, blue dark ,saddle light medium and dark? Good luck Lyle

I think I will start to research this as it seems this information needs to be compiled and stated in the JG'S, or does it already exist. I only have the 73/74 JG which states what was earlier posted. Does anyone here have a 75 up and through 82 JG, stating other, then what the 73/74 does, or prior JG's 68-72?

I have a 69, built in Nov 68. The interior is bright blue and the T-top bags are bright blue and are date coded Sept 68.

Gregg As I see it the description of the bags and everything about them that can be seen looking at the different years bags is well known and stated in all TIM&JG's for the 68-82 years. The color of the bag may have more to do with what was at the line when the GM worker assigned to this job had to put the bags in the Corvette. If the matching color was not at the line he put in black and later years all were black. The bag color infomation for 75-82 is as follows 75-77TIM&JG no color listed. 78-79 TIM&JG black or very dark green 80-82 TIM&JG black. Lyle
