    Looking for a car!

    Greetings.

    I need help on finding a good 1971 - 1972 driver for a modest budget (11K - 13.5K.)

I'm looking for a 350 4-speed coupe with air, PS, Tilt, (nice to have PW but not very important,) and black interior. I've waited since 1970 for one reason or another and I'd like to finally get one and possibly enjoy it! (I'm told 42yrs. old is young, but how long should one wait?) Exterior color is not an issue. I'd like to find one that hasn't been hacked to St. Louis and back. Good frame and window pillars are necessary. I would like to move to a more agreeable climate. Trying to keep a good frame good for a daily driver may be a good motivator for stepping up my relocation effort.

Any help some one may offer would be highly appreciated. I'm told I can find an honest helping hand at NCRS!

By the way, is it possible to install/retrofit a removable rear window in a 1973? I was told this was possible at the recent Bloomington show. I'm not sure I buy that one.

    Thank you.
    Tony

Tony: Yes, you can retrofit rear window feature to a '73. If you relocate out West, look for a '71 they will run on our poor quality fuel better out here than a 1970 model. If you like the fiber optic feature (really cool) it was discontinued for the '72 model. Good luck!

You are asking a lot and willing to spend a little. It is not an impossible task but one which will take some time and some serious legwork. Check the Corvette trader and other online sales boards. Most Corvette boards will have a vehicle sales section, look there.

Be very careful because at that price you will see a lot of cars with no so evident problems. Such as frames, bird cages loaded with rust, engine problems and the like. You can probably find one in that price range with a NOM and incomplete restoration. This board is probably not the best place to find your driver as many of the people here have spent much more than that on their restorations alone.

        Tony,

Spend the most money you can- The cheap initial price will LONG be forgotten after you try to "fix" something that should have been easy and would only take a couple of hours... I have seen several cars in the upper teens to low 20's w/ over twice that amount in reciepts- now that's a deal.
