Hello all . Was "Cascade Green" an aqua blue looking color --- and what is considered the best paint to use in today's times that will not result in points deduction ? What is proper color/paint type for frame/suspension and were bolts painted ? If I decice to go to a high gloss or powder coated scheme , how many deducts ? Thinking about upgrading bolts to new grade A and using poly bushings---points deduct ?? I think Vette is a heater delete---how do I tell for sure ? (do have the dummy knob--- but after market heater has been installed , so no block off plates). Finally , (for now--lol) Vette has original spare , but I need 4 more wheels , jack , handle , mat , instruction decals , and hubcaps . Where should I obtain these and what should I look to pay ? Thanks to all -- Great site , George

Re: '57 questions
Cascade green was more green than blue hue. perhaps you are thinking of the artic blue also offered in 57. Lacquer is what they came with and unless you've got a painter who can shoot urethane and buff it to look like laquer, best to go with lacquer even tho it won't hold up as well as the urthanes. the frames were semi-gloss black .To determine which bolts were and weren't painted, you'll need the Judging manual available from the cincinati ffice.Check the Driveline for the parts you're in need of . Carlisle a month away also good source for parts. If your dash still has the Dummy Knob, it probably was built without a heater. Was it delivered in the sun-belt? good luck, mike- Top

Re: '57 questions
George, Cascade Green is, indeed, an aqua color. As for the best type of paint - it really depends on a lot of factors that you need to consider. There have been a number of excellent threads on the pros/cons of various paint types over the last month or so and I suggest you look them up. The bulk of your questions can be answered most accurately by the NCRS Tech Manual for the 57 Corvette - that publication is available on this site. My frame of reference is for the 56 Corvette, but since there is a strong family resemblance between the 56 and 57, I think there is no way to determine if your Corvette was originally a heater delete or not - unless you have some access to owners from long ago. It sounds like it may very well have been - since it has the dummy knob and someone took the time to install an aftermarket heater. Good luck, and I highly recommend you invest in some of the NCRS's excellent source documentds for your 57. Just as an observation on my part - terms like "poly bushings", "powder coat", and "grade A bolts" make NCRS judges wretch. Steve- Top
