    C2 67 427/435 stall.

While driving home late last night I had the 67 cruising nicely at 75 MPH when all of a sudden the engine just stalled. The car coasted for about what seemed like 20 to 30 seconds and then without me doing anything it fired up while I down shifted and away we went. It did the same thing one more time about 5 miles later only this time as we slowed to almost a stop I had to turn the key and it started right up again and we made it home from there. The highways are a little bumpy up here and the stalls both seemed to occur just after going over frost bumps in the road. I'm thinking the problem is electrical. Can I get some help on what the possible causes might be. Thanks.

run a wire from the + side of the coil thru a 12 volt test light that is grounded and see if the light goes out when the engine stalls out and then you will know it is electrical.

I'd be very suprised if the pproblem does not exist at the Ignition harness plug to fuse block junction. Remove the ign harn plug from the fuse panel, clean thoroughly the pins (six or eight of them live in both the plug and the fuse panel) then lubricate with silicone dielectric paste(Delco and 3-M sell it). good luck, mike

Rick, I agree with Mike's assessment. I had the same problem once with a 67. Also a poor electrical connection at the firewall can cause the ammeter to not function correctly. Good luck.

Lots of other good suggestions here, I once had this symptom on another car (Buick Riv, 72) and the culprit was the coil wire was rubbing on the block and had worn through the insulation...occasionally grounding the wire. It took out a new set of mufflers on refire to boot...Craig

All good suggestions. I had the same problem...

Solution was dicovered accidently when a friends finger ring snagged the lead wire from the coil to the distributor and stripped the insulation off of the wire at about mid-point. The wire had been broken inside the insulation and would not have been found otherise or, without the testing listed above. No amount of planning or testing can ever replace dumb luck.

Also check the connector on the TI amp.
