Re: C-3 Transmission Slip Problem
The vouge these days at quick lube type places is to use a tranny fluid recycling machine instead of dropping pan, changing seals and cleaning screen. The machine connects to the tranny using line junction at the forward tranny fluid cooling radiator. Supposedly, this approach 'sucks' out spent fluid along with trapped particulates obviating the need to change filter screens and does a better job in less time.
BUT, the approach doesn't get you fresh pan seals which can/do 'cook' wear and eventually leak. It saves mechanic training (lower skilled labor) and obviates the headaches of broken pan bolts, incorrect torque and 'botched' installation.
If the tranny wasn't leaking before/after their fluid service, and you don't have a vac problem, it could well be time for a full AT overhaul on your tranny....- Top

Re: C-3 Transmission Slip Problem
Thanks Jack,
I still do have a small leak of some sort at the front of the pan. I thought it was engine oil before I had the trans fluid changed - that was when the fluid was as brown as engine oil. Now... I think possibly it might be fluid since it has more of a tint to it but I still can't tell. The underbelly of the car is dirty/gummy so it might have mixed in with that stuff. I'm going to remove this shroud deal and clean everything real well and see what happens then. Thanks again.- Top
