I am considering going to a 2-1/2" exhaust system. My question is how hard is to change out the exhaust bracket that is located below the automatic transmission. I will need to replace the 2" and go to a 2'1/2" bracket. This is the bracket that has two half circles and the exhaust clamps to it. Thanks

Not a big deal - remove the two trans mount-to-trans bolts, jack up the back of the transmission a bit, remove the old bracket, snake the new one into place, lower the trans back onto the bracket and mount, and re-install the two bolts.- Top

Re: C3 Exhaust
Did this change many years ago to my 70. After you have removed your old exhaust you will have somewhat better access to the two bolts that attach the bracket to the transmissiion. The bolts should have the type of lock that is bent in place to keep the bolt from backing out, This will have to be bent flat first. You might be able to get a off set wrench in to remove the bolts. If not you will have to remove the rear transmission mount. You may even choose to replace this mount if it is the original one depending on its condition. Place a piece of 2x10 on a floor jack lifting center and place it against your turbo 400's tranmission pan for lifting and supporting the transmission.- Top

Re: C3 Exhaust
Don,
FYI, I didn't have to change the bracket when I installed the chambered exhaust in my 71. You may want to test fit it first, if possible, to see if you need to swap the bracket.
Good luck.
