    C2 rear end disassembly

The maintenance manual's first instruction is to "remove the snap ring and then remove the side gear yokes." It appears that the snap ring is located next to the right side gear bearing. How is the snap ring removed?

I'm doing some exploring. I plan to have someone with the proper tools do the final reassembly set up.

    Steve------

The differential stub axle snap ring is located inside the posi case proximal to the differential side (spider) gear. To remove it you need to insert a pair of snap ring pliars into the opening in the posi case. You will need a good set of pliars of the type that have "L-shaped" end tips of the exact size as the holes in the snap ring ends. Otherwise, you might be facing a lot of frustration.
