    Fiberglass

I recently purchased a 1961 Corvette which I have driven for about 100 miles. I have noticed small hairline cracks in the front fenders where the hood meet them. Is this normal and is there any way to prevent it. Can these cracks be hidden so they do not show as bad. The color of the car is black so the cracks are noticeable.

They are caused by strain due to stress in the substrate (composite). Far as I know, the composite must be cut through to relieve the stress, rejoined, surfaced, and repainted to do the job right. Wayne will add to this, but far as I am concerned, that's what I would do.

      Don't wax it.

It is the cheap alternative. This won't fix the problem, but it makes the cracks much less noticable if there isn't any dried white wax in them.

So many Corvettes have this problem, you won't stand out. If it is worse, then the bodywork is necessary.
