    Fender Covers

Not really a "techical question", but who makes a good set of fender covers that work well to protect your car while you're working on the motor?

    Any recommendations?

    Thanks,

    Rich

    Hi Rich,
The fender covers that are sold thru the NCRS store work well.

Thanks Page, but I looked and did not find them.

If you could tell me where to look on the page, I'd greatly appreciate it.

      Regards,

      Rich

The fender covers I'm using lately are big old used blankets or bedspreads folded in 1/2. They've been washed lots so they're soft as heck and don't scratch. They're big enough to cover the fender, the front and 1/2 the windshield, would absorb like crazy if I dropped a tool. I don't even use my fender covers any more. Works for me.

Actually, that's what I have been using, lately, a moving blanket that works real well.

I was looking for something impervious to fluids though, as I was going to do some detailing on the engine compartment.

          Thanks,

          Rich

            Richard:

I have the NCRS cover and it works well. I bought mine at The National Convention in Hershey. Looking at the online store, I could not find it. Call Gary or Eric Mortimer at: (513) 385-8526 or Fax them with your needs at: (513) 385-8554. You can also e-mail them at NCRScincy@aol.com. They will take care of you and buying the cover from NCRS helps the organization.

              Re: Fender Gripper

              Richard,
I highly recommend that you check out Fender Gripper covers. They are located at http://www.ssnake-oyl.com/ Click on Catalog, then Fender Gripper.

For big projects and restorations, the Front End Cover is excellent. Best present I ever gave my '65!

              Hope this helps.

I agree with Gene - my wife bought me a set of the "Fender Grippers" from Ssnake-Oyl last Christmas, and they're terrific; they're made from the same material I use to line the bottom of my rollaway drawers, and once you place them on the fender, they STAY where you put them - no slide, no scratch.

I need some, so that sounds like a winner to me.

Their "full cover" is a bit much though, probably get 2 of the smaller ones.

                  Thanks,

                  Rich

Someone here posted this question a few weeks back an the suggestion was made to use the material commonly sold as carpet non slip backing material. Had a roll laying around the house so I cut a few pieces about 4' long and they are great!! Non slip, waterproof, and they deaden the shock when if I place a tool down. I love them and the cost was NADA!
