    Re: What Application?

    Rick----

GM #3817657 is the left rear and right front spark plug heat shield applicable to most 1957 to 1982 Corvettes. It was originally used, though, only for 1963-82 Corvettes and superceded, for SERVICE, the GM #3736303 used for 1957 applications, GM #3744411 originally used for 1958-61 applications and GM #3815084 originally used for 62-63 applications. The 3736303 and 3744411 were not used on Corvettes with radio.

GM #3917664 is the right rear and left front spark plug heat shield applicable to most 1957 through 1978 Corvettes. It was originally used for 1968-78 Corvettes. It replaced, for SERVICE, the GM #3736304 originally used for 1957 applications, the GM #3744412 originally used for 1958-61 applications, and GM #3815084 originally used for 1962-67 applications.

The only other shiled used for 1957-78 Corvette applications was the GM #3919807 which was used for 1970-75 Corvette applications. This is the shield with the large round hole in it for the temp sender/TCS switch.

The GM #3817657 is still available from GM for a current GM list price of $60.26/ea and the GM #3917664 is still available for a current GM list price of $12.21.

        Rick---

The GM #3817657 should be 100% correct. The GM #3917664 is not the actual part used for 1963. However, I don't think it's very much different. I don't know what the actual differences are, though.
