Anyone ever attempted C2 Rocker Panel Resto?

My rocker panels have oxidized to the point that buffing doesn't do much for them. Before I tackle this restoration job, I'd like a little insight...

I actually taken sandpaper to a real ratty "test panel" and sanded past the surface layer (hard coat anodize?) and it buffed out very nice.

Over a period of a couple weeks however, I could see oxidation beginning to fade the brillance off.

Would a coat of Clear Gloss Polyurethane prevent this? Any other ideas?

I surfed the web and saw something on a "bright dip" (oxymoron?) process.

    Open for suggestions..

There are outfits who advertise in Hemmings, under Services, that purport to be able to Anodize old alum pieces.Been tempted to send them a sample for years but haven't gotten around to it yet. If you send them your rocker panels, let us know how they turn out. mike
