C3 68 Red Stripe Tires Option Code

According to the 68 TM&JG and also another source on the web, the option code for red stripe tires is "PT6". My tank sticker says "P76" (02P76AA) for this option. The tank sticker is hard to read, but I would swear that's what it says. The description line verifies they are red stripe and I have the original spare to confirm that. The tank sticker is still on the tank, but not in the car. The car is a July 68 build.

One interesting fact is that starting in 63 up through 67, tire options were specified with the letter "P", followed by TWO numberical digits. Starting in 68, which had a red stripe option (PT6) and a white stripe option (PT7), the letter "T" was added after the "P", and only one numerical single digit was used.

If you are reading your tank sticker right, that would put the tire option code back to the pre-68 format. Close examination msy show that the "7" is actually a "T".

Thanks for the re-inforcement. I looked at the real thing again and rubbed some dirt off (I hate touching this thing, it's about to turn to dust) and it is a "T" not a "7". I took a bunch of digital pictures a while ago to enhance so I could read things better and in the pictures you could easily convince yourself it is a "7", but as they say in the NFL "Upon further review" it is a T.

Thanks. My tank sticker is in bad shape and hard to read in many areas. I can only read two digits in the order # spot. They are 42. The hand written number in a circle is "428". Also I cannot see anything in the Zone or Dealer fields. How many digits is the order # field on yours? I can read the order date but not the expected prod. date. The equipment fields are decipherable, but you have to know what you're looking for. Hence the confusion between "T" and "7"

Order field is five digits. My last three digits are "430" on the tank sticker, but there is a hand written "431" on the sheet....hmmmmm don't know what that means.
