This may have been covered before but being fairly new I need to know if it is possible to replace the wiring harnesses with the body on and everything operating. I have no problems now but 40 year old wiring is brittle. How many can I replace with limited mechanical knowledge. I'm not afraid to try.

Re: Wiring harness replacement
Take the time to record where all your connections go. I wish I had done that instead of relying on my ability to read the electrical diagrams when installing my new wiring harness. Save your plastic ties, as the replacements I got (from Long Island) are not as soft as the originals and don't fit into the holes in the fenders as tightly as your originals.- Top

Re: Wiring harness replacement
Randy,
Suggest you replace the harness in steps as you remove the original. Start at the main connections and work your way toward the ends. Another way is to video or photograph everything, check the recordings first for color clarity and a complete understanding with written notes as to what connects where and tag the original harness as you remove it. Lay the reproduction harness out with the tagged original and tag the new one if not tagged by the vendor. Best of luck.

Re: Wiring harness replacement
I replaced my under hood wiring harness on my 67 with no problems just by the simple method of taking off the old connector and immediately replacing it with the new correct connector. The best advice I got was to remove the hood. I also have limited mechanical experience. Rick #39266- Top
