    59-60 wonderbar radio

Help? Could anyone help explain if there is a noticeable difference between the two years of radios. Could the 59' radio be acceptable for an early Nov 60'car ???
    Thanks as always.

I looked at the NCRS restorer magazine on CD. The summer 78 issue said the 58-60 are the same part number " 987730***". I guess they are the same.

      Bob,
I think they are same. I have an early 60, high 400's number. If you want to compare something let me know.

Check page 15-16 of the 58 to 60 judging manual. Slight difference on 58 selector knob and occational late 60 car will have have curved push buttons instead of flat like the rest of the 58-60 radios.

Thanks to everyone, your responses helped alot. Guess what pages I don't have from the judging manual? 15-16 !!!!! Wouldn't you know it. I have an early car anyhow. I didn't purchase the radio, seller couldn't locate the part number. Anyone know where they are located? I'll be looking for a radio anyhow.
          Thanks

            Norbert,
The part # tag usually disappears, but it can be found inside the cover if it exists. The basic chassis is the same from 58-61 on wonder bar radios with only minor differences in the knobs and buttons. Any of these radios would judge well for your car with a change of these items. Almost any wonderbar radio you buy will need going through anyway, and you will probably change out the pitted chrome buttons anyway. The 62 chassis is different than the others with the transformer and capacitor moved to the rear of the case, so it would not judge correct even though it is a functional replacement. If the capacitor is sticking out on the driver's side of the case, it will judge correct for your car with the proper buttons and knobs.

            Regards, John McGraw
