    Voltage Regulator

I hope someone can help.I'm looking at buying a Voltage Regulator I saw on Ebay.I'm told from the seller it's out of a 1961 vette.I have a 1962 vette. The 149th off the assembly line.Built around August 8th 1961 The numbers on the regulator are 1119001E & Dated 2D. Can someone tell me what the 2D stands for.I need to know if this regulator and date will work for my car since it was built so early.

    Thanks for your help..........John

001 is 30 amp--you need 002 which is 35 amp--July or August 61 (1H or 1G) would probably be correct, according to my records.

Mike - Would and April 62 date (2D) on a 61 regulator mean that it is a GM product made for follow-on spare stock? Thanks..Dick

John - I believe the sad fact is you need a '002E regulator. If you can buy a really good (real) one for less than $400, you're doing pretty good. DC

            Re: Voltage Regulator

Don't forget that passenger cars used similar generators and regulators--that would be for a 30-amp passenger car (all 62 Vettes were 35 amp) and the regulator was maufactured in April 62 (or 72, or 82, or 92)--although the 001 was not manufactured that long, you can't just assume 62, although it is likely from that vintage.
Dennis is right--you'll spend a very pretty penny for an original--and an early one is really hard to find!

Thanks to all of you who responded. You answered my questions. The Voltage Regulator I was looking at is not for my car.I'll hunt for the 002E.Hopefully I can find one cheap enough to buy.

              Thanks again.............John
