Starter motor for '66 Big Block

I want to put the correct numbered and dated starter on my 1966 / 427 / 390 HP roadster / serial # 5813/ built in November '65. The NCRS Specifications guide lists two possible:

1. 1107352 - Early 390 and all 425 HP 427 Engines
2. 1107365 - 2nd design Starter for 390 HP 427 Engines

what is meant by "early"? Which one is correct for my car?

Unless you get a message to the contrary, it is usually impossible to tell what parts your car originally had, you're only making a best guess. In your case, I think the 365 starter is a lot easier to find and cheaper as well. If you could find one with the right date code, then you're set. If you can't find one (all the 365 starters you see are later than your car's build date) then you likely need to look for the 352 starter. But I'd look for the 365 first.

I would contact John Pirkle (Pirklesr@aol.com) and he should be able to tell you which is correct and possibly furnish you the properly dated starter for your car.
