    Rick,

    I would suppose that technically it wasn't a CE block, as CE's were (as I understand it) usually a relatively complete short or long block assembly. Of course, it doesn't have the CE, either.

    If it was never stamped, my guess (?) would be that the block only was replaced. maybe you found out more from Tony.

    In a way it's too bad that we don't recognize legitimate CE stamped blocks, but that's another discussion I suppose.

      Patrick,

      I used the wrong term - I agree.

      I was just trying to emphasize the block was replaced under warranty with a 1964 date coded VIRGIN block.

      I found a 1963 block with the correct stamppad, "RF" suffix, etc. that is "technically correct" for my July 11 build dated Z06. The only problem with the stamppad once we build it up with everything else from the ORIGINAL engine is that the VIN will be incorrect. Tony and I discussed this at quite length and agreed we WOULD NOT deck the stamppad. Preserving the broach marks are more important than trying to RESTAMP the VIN.
