Doing a frame off resto on a 58. Car is for driving not judging. Should I replace the body shims (cardboard and metal) with new ones? I ask this because I don't want to create trouble later when the body goes back on (ie in the form of trial and error shimming). I have all the orig shims but they are cardboard and 45 years old and starting to deteriorate. If I replace exactly with the new for the old should the car sit correctly? Need some voices of experience here as I have never done this before.

A great book to help you is Noland Adams Body Lift workbook sold by the NCRS web site. He also has a video tape about body lift and replacement. I would diffinately replace them with new ones and the same numbers as original. You should also replace the rubber pads on the frame. Most parts companies sell kits that include all of that.
