I still have two pieces of wheaterstrip of which roughly I know where they should fit in but when I try to figure out where to position them exactly I can't seem to solve this little puzzle. Has anyone a clear picture of how these pieces fit in?
Rob,
The weatherstrips go under the rear vetical weatherstrip at the door glass on each side and span back to the top frame at the rear. The end with the thin metal goes under the weatherstrip, and the bottom screw goes through the lower hole in the metal. A small, self-tapping screw goes through the other hole and into a hole in the frame. The intent of this piece is to seal the bottom of the top against the body between the window and the rear bow weatherstrip. As soon as you start to lift the rear bow, the weatherstrip will pull away from the body and fold up. This should be shown in the AIM, but if not, I will check when I get home tonight and maybe I have some pics of how this attaches.
They go at the bottom rear window area of the soft top assy. Some one may have a pic. It's to close off the air gap bettween the body and frame , like the 53 to 55 had a sewn on Mohair flap in the same area you positioned so to do the same, that all tops are missing to day because few people know about it.
Thanks, I'll try to figure this out later this evening and see if I can fit it in as you mentioned. I thought it had to go somewhere between the horizontal rear bow and the folding mechanism but obviously couldn't figure out how!

I was able to figure out the right spot for the rubber. I just had one remaining question: on the end with the two sunken philips head screws there was a small metal plate still on the softtop rear bow with old piece of rubber between this metal plate and the metal bow. When I looked at the new rubber weatherpiece the holes for the screws are sunken indicating it doesn't need the metal piece.
Can someone point out what the correct mounting procedure is (with or without the metal pieces) ?
greetings,
Rob.
