In looking at the '58 and '60 AIM it shows 4 different shifters. It looks like the change from 3712369 to 3744056 took place on 2/28/58 (straight to bent shift handle). It looks like it was changed from 3744056 to 3759057 on 5/5/58 (bent shift handle to precursor to reverse lockout mechanism). Then at some point it changed to 3760702 (with lockout mechanism). What date did this change occur? Also how much time generally passed from drawing change to production change? Did the 3759057 have the anti-rattle spring?
I have a shifter that came from a late '58 that has the notch in the bottom of the shift handle like the reverse lock out handle has but it doesn't have the reverse lockout mechanism. Also it has the hole drilled for the rivet that holds the metal piece for the lockout in place but it doesn't look like it's ever had a rivet in it. It also has the wire on the handle and the tab at the bottom for the anti-rattle spring. Given this I'm wondering if it is a 3759057. Thanks Ted
