I have a 1960 corvette that I purchased six years ago. The trunk emblem is higher on the trunk and not just above the trunk lock. I received a picture from one of the previous owners taken in 1967 and the emblem is in the higher location in this photo. The trunk has the ridge above the lock so I don't know how to tell if this is an original trunk or a replacement. does anyone have any info to help me determine if this is an original trunk. Has anyone ever seen a trunk with the emblem in a higher location. Do replacement trunks come with the emblem hole predrilled or did someone drill the hole in the wrong place?

Re: 1960 corvette trunk emblem
The hole in the trunk is not drilled but molded in. The only reproduction parts made would not be off far enough for you to see a difference. Look at the underside of the trunk lid for signs of a lot of fiberglass work. If the trunk was repaired after a wreck someone could have bonded it back together in a different location.
I can't think of any other explanation than that. John

Nick, What you might have is a 56 or 57 trunk that some prior owner cut open to accept the 58 to 62 rear emblem and bezal. Could be ! Rich #2276- Top
