    67 escutcheon installation??

When I purchased my 67 it did'nt have a widow crank escutcheon on the drivers side. I bought a pair from Paragon and when I removed the handle there is no place for the 3 tangs on the escutcheon to go. Can this be corrected/installed with out taking the door panel off? Any ideas would be appriciated. I've considered drilling three holes but this could get ugly. What did the original look like, was the handle post hole large enough for the 3 tangs to pop into, mine is small. I tried to pop the passenger side off with out success.

    Thanks in advance

You find them different from the factory, probably because of the give a S factor of the installer. Some have holes punched in the vinyl. some are just folded up under the bezels.
