I'm aware of all the ways to tell factory from non-factory installed side exhaust(from a very good article in an old restorer issue). The cut-outs in the metal along the side made to allow room for the u-nuts where the covers attach to the body appeared quite rough. Does anyone know what type of tool was used to make these and/or what shape they should be. The ones on the car appeared rounded in shape. I was able to see them since the car was in the process of being re-assembled. Other than that, it had all the evidence of haveing factory installed side exhaust.

Re: FACTORY INSTALLED SIDE EXHAUST
The rectangular clearance notches in the sill were made with a hydraulic "nipper" tool during the subassembly of the birdcage in the basement birdcage assembly area at St. Louis; same area where the rocker molding support brackets were welded to the sill (or left off on N14 cars).- Top
