I recently purchased the Corvette News volumes 11 through 23 or from 1967 to 1979(I think). I am wondering, what years was the Corvette News published and was it always 6 issues a year? Thank you in advance for the information.

Re: C - ? Corvette News timeline
Hi Glenn,
Corvette News started in 1957 (volume 1) and had less items (I believe 3 or 4) in the first year, 4 in 1958 and 1959 and 6 in 1960 and further (for as far as I know).
greetings,

Re: Which is shown?
Tom,
The issue shown is of volume 5 (1961), nr. 6. I found it on sale on e-Bay. The C1 issues all had this style (square boxes on top showing the words Corvette News, on each issue the color of these squares would vary).

Re: C - ? Corvette News timeline
When I bought my new Corvette in 1962 Corvette News was a quarterly publication offered free to new owners along with special recognition accessories that included a patch, a lapel pin & a wallet card. I imagine that was also true prior to 1962. Don't remember what year they started charging for the subscription.

Re: C - ? Corvette News timeline
They started charging somewhere around 1979 or 1980, if I remember right. I believe I had several '79 issues I sold on eBay a year or so ago. I know that I have at least one late '78 or early '79 and that was prior to the subscription because I didn't buy into paying for it.
I felt Chevrolet had made their own accounting mess and then expected us to pay for it. Heck, there were guys who bought a new Corvette in the '60s, sold them after a few months, and continued to get Corvette News for 10 and 15 years. If Chevrolet had sent them only to current Corvette owners, they could have kept it up for another 10 years or more.
The subscription was far too much for what you got, especially compared to other magazines of the time, IMHO.- Top
