    '71 Front Fender Lip Roughness

During Flight judging, an issue came up regarding a roughness or jagged finish on the inner lip of the right front fender, in the area of the tire clearance cut-outs, and toward the front bottom of the wheel opening. The judges thought it was either from something getting caught in there, or from repair work. I can see no evidence of body work in this area, and I found a very similar condition on a virgin '72 being shown by the original owner.

It almost looks to me like a lack of resin at the very edge of the mold, or a failure to smooth off could cause this- does this make sense? Has anyone else seen this?
