For some reason, my storage backboard has a series of holes in it around the edges where staples or a very tough sewing machine had been. I replaced the original back in 1983 and can't remember how that was attached. I did glue on the replacement back then which now needs replacement again. It has faded to a very dark chocolate brown. See the photo for the hole pattern......
Here is an excerpt from my 1965 TIM&JG: "Carpet is glued on the top of the cover and should closely match the size of the cover with minimal overlap". I am almost certain that your 1967 TIM&JG should read the same.
