    What is...

... the name of the sheetmetal panel riveted to the body behind the seats in midyear cars? This panel serves as the front of the jack compartment and is covered with carpet. It's shown in the '66 AIM on sheet F-11, but not identified.

i refer to it as the partition between front and rear of the interior. They're frequently damaged(bent) from Bubba transporting 16 gal kegs. mike

      Mark------

The part that you refer to is actually 2 seperate pieces. It's officially called an "Underbody Filler Panel". The left side for mid years is GM #3797379 and the right side is GM #3797380. You don't want to need one; these pieces were discontinued more than 25 years ago and they're not reproduced.

Notwithstanding the above "official" GM nomenclature, I usually refer to this part as a "bulkhead". I consider that term more appropriately describes the part than the official GM term (which I USUALLY try to use to describe all parts).

Corvette Central calls it "Metal panel behind seats", and sells it for $49.20.

            Thanks all

Mine needs to be replaced. So as long as I know what to ask for and there is a vendor with the part, then mission accomplished.

mark: as joe mentioned there probably isn't a repoi available which leaves ya with 2 options: Carlisle in august for used one or remove yours and have the local tinbangers fabricate you a replacement.mike
