1969 key warning buzzer switch clip

    Hi,

unfortuantely I have lost the little clip that holds the key warning buzzer switch in place. It is a standard steering column. I removed the broken buzzer switch several years ago, and now I do not find the &%$§ clip any more. I've searched all places were I normally hide such small parts....
I also looked in my catalogs but only found the switch, not the clip for sale. Any ideas where I could get one?

Thanks in advance for your help!

The clip rarely broke, so you just might find it's still a Chevy part/item. Most of the switches have LONG been discontinued. I'd send you one but the extras I have are for tilt/tele column and they're a different geometry (longer switch).

If Chevy doesn't pan out (just a phone call to the parts counter), the alternative is a piece of cake! Go to your local, u-pull-it scrap yard and find ANY GM pass car from the era (69-72 will work) that's got a non TT steering column. Take a wheel puller tool with you and go 'mine' a junker for an extra key minder switch and clip. The inside of the upper column were all alike, it's the length, feature set (turn signal, cruise control, Etc.) and outside 'wrapper' components that changed from car to car....

Not too long ago, these switches for non-tilt/tele were still available from GM. I was able to find a switch for the tilt/tele version by contacting the company that rebuilds steering columns and advertises in The Restorer. Sorry I don't remember their name and I am not at home. Maybe Corvette Steering or something like that?

Well, I'm living in Germany. The scrap yards over here only have Mercedes, BMW and VWs.... so I guess this won't help. But with a GM part# I could go to my local Opel dealer. Maybe he can get the clip.
