you should always use diagonals
I'm sure the C5 is so low that it couldn't happen, but I have seen trucks and Jeeps flip on the trailer in an accident with the criss-cross. The criss-cross isn't really stable. Four outward diagonal straps are more stable.
I know that an awful lot of Corvette owners criss-cross just like you see, and with the car end near the center, the leverage to flip isn't there. But when they move the car ends more outboard, they get more leverage. The same if they raise the car end point above the trailer deck.- Top
