    1963 Z06 Master Cylinder Question

    Folks,

    Have a small weep on my master cylinder. It appears that at the junction on the master cylinder and the lines (where the big line nuts attach)there are what appear to be COPPER WASHERS (perhaps a gasket). Does anyone know where I can purchase these COPPER WASHERS/gaskets? Thanks. Rick

    Rick-----

    The parts you seek were once known as GM #5454151. Unfortunately, they were discontinued without supercession in May, 1969. However, all is not lost. There are several possibilities:

    1) Go to a good brake shop or auto parts store that has an assortment of copper washers in a drawer with individual bins. Many brake shops or REAL auto parts stores (not Kragen, Auto Zone, Pep Boys, etc., though) will have such an assortment, particularly those that might cater to TRUCKS. The gaskets that you're looking for are 1-1/64" ID, 1-1/4" OD, and are 1/16" thick;

    2) Make your own. Get a sheet of 1/16" thick dead soft copper stock. Using arch punches of the appropriate size, you could punch out your own gaskets. The problem is purchasing the arch punches, if you don't already have them, will be a bit expensive (probably about $20-25/each). But, once you have them, you'll have an endless supply of these gaskets.

            Rick, I looked in my spare Z06 parts and found a package of 1-1/4" x1-1/16" x .060 copper washers. Must be the parts you need. Sending them to you today.
