Anyone know where I can order a '68 Rochester Quadrajet carb (that isn't a basket case)? I've got a 327/300 4 speed built in March '68 with a '69 Q-jet (which is a basket case) on my car now.
It depends what it is that you really want. If what you want is a correctly "numbered" and "dated" carb, then the only way you're going to get one is to find a correct core and have it restored. The core that you're looking for is a 7028207. This was a Corvette-only piece, so finding one will not be real easy. Plus, keep in mind that even if you do find one, the actual condition of the core will be a big question mark. These carburetors were exposed for many years to leaded gas and the scavengers used with them. These are quite corrosive and take their toll on exposed portions of the carb. Much of the damage and wear that results from this and other factors cannot be "rebuilt out" of one of these cores. So, even after rebuilding/restoration you can end up with a really poor running carburetor. It's a sad but true fact of life.
If what you're after is a good running carburetor of the original configuration, then I'd suggest going with one of the Edelbrock Q-Jet clones. These carburetors are configured virtually identical to the originals and they are 100% NEW. An Edelbrock #1901 is a direct bolt-on with no modifications necessary, at all. It's even 50 state emissions legal, which is a BIG plus if you have to undergo emissions inspections (either periodic OR at time of sale). If you remove the "Edelbrock" logo from the front of the carb, it will otherwise appear just like the original (except, of course, for numbers and dates). THERE IS NOTHING THAT MAKES AN ENGINE RUN LIKE A NEW CARBURETOR. NOTHING.
If you want to go the original route and take your chance with a core, you might try Chicago Corvette. They have a lot of "rebuildable" cores. Otherwise, try the Driveline, Hemmings, or eBay. Carbs show up quite frequently in all these places.

If you want a goon running carb, I suggest you follow joe's advise. I ordered a Edelbrock Q-Jet clones for my wife's 75 and it runs fine. I'll soon be ordering another for a 75 L82.

There on ebay fairly frequently. I believe there is one on there now. Look up either 68 quadrajet or 1968 quadrajet. It should come up if it is still there. They get pretty expensive so get ready to spend. Terry

I bought a brand new 7029207 on e-bay for my 69. I paid $200.00 for it. It is not date matching, but brand new. I took Joes advice and am very glad I did.The date matching was important to me also but I couldn't pass up this deal.

Yes there is one but it is for a 350 hp manual transmission, but the seller has others. You may want to give him a try. I am not having any luck either looking to 7028208, for 300hp with auto.
