I was attempting to bleed the brakes on my 1964, which has power brakes. All parts of the brake system are new or rebuilt and all fresh fluid. I am not able to get any brake pressure when pumping the pedal. I removed the Master Cylinder and found that the rod from the power brake booster is about 3 3/4" long and when installed on sticks out a little of 1" from the booster surface and the plunger inside of the master cylinder is about an inch further in from the maximum lenght from this rod, even when the brake pedal is depressed. Is there a longer rod that I should be using. The master cylinder is the rebuilt original unit, the booster is a rebuilt replacement. Can some one help me stop!!!!!
