The Tri Carbs were new from Holley two years ago. Only about 500 miles on these units. Lately, while trying to get the timing right in an effort to reduce idle temperature, I have been idleing the car for long periods and then testing on the highway for short stretches, opening up all three carbs. The inside of the center carb now seems to be very black and covered in thick sticky black film. The interesting thing is that the inner left side of the center carb seems to be more black than the right side. The other two carbs have only a little black film, however again this black film is only on the left side of these carbs. Does the fact that the left sides are blacker than the right sides tell me anything about how the engine is running and what to adjust to correct? Thanks for the help.
