C2 exhaust W/headers

I wanted to purchase all pre-bent aluminized exhaust pipes with mechanical connections, simply for ease of hook up while the body was off my SWC.

I am expecting to retain my after market headers, and I am assuming that the stock pipes will certainly not line up with the headers.

Does any one know of an "after market adapter" that some vendor may have created to match up mid year stock exhaust pipes to small block headers? Or is this just whishful thinking?

I really don't want another butcher shop welding so close to my plastic again!

Mike, Adaptor IS wishful thinking...

Seek out an exhaust shop that has their "stuff" together. Hard to find, but they ARE out there. Best, Dennis

Mike, I use a piece of sheet aluminum or steel positioned right above the weld area to protact the fiber glass from excessive heat during welding. Also, you may be able to tack weld the "adaptor" and then slightly drop the header & pipe assembly a few inches to gain better access for finishing the weld.

I guess I can put all the original pipe in with the body off like I planned. Then leave it loosely connected. Construct (have a piece made to go to the header and then weld it in or tack it with the body off, (it's been a few years since I've done any gas welding).

Then when I set the body down, the original pipes shouldn't interfere with the body position...should they??? I hope not! Maybe???

I should be able to adjust the all pipes before finally clamping them down.
