    Leaking fuel question-72 LT1

I have a 72 LT1 with AC (non operational at this time). I noticed a small fuel leak from the right rear of the car. Upon investigation, the source seems to be a canister looking device which seems to be original equipment. (It says "AC" on it) There is a ground wire which runs from the cylinder and there are 3 philips head srews on the device (at the base). The manuals I have do not speak to this device. It may be the fuel gauge meter? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Don, the fuel level sender unit is inside the tank. The object you describe is not original. If it's a self-contained electric in-line fuel pump retrofitted for some purpose, the ground wire will do no good without an electrical supply. There should be an AC part number on it somewhere which would help identify the device.

Thanks Chuck. I will look into the part number and see if I can identify it. Based upon not seeing this item described in any of the service manuals I have, I would think that you are correct in saying it is not original. Thanks Again.
