'65 396 intake

The heater hose fitting appears to be a unique part number, at least it looks different from any I have seen.

Anyone have one or at least a part number?

All nipples look the same to me ...

... that is, if we're talking about the coolant heater return connection to the intake manifold (1/2" NPT thread, for 5/8" hose). Checked 3 manifolds, including a "963", and they appear identical. All Corvette parts houses carry them, and they show only one type.

Thanks Wayne. I was looking at David Burroughs book, and from what I could see it looked a little different than what I've seen and the examples in the catalogs.

Mark,

The nipple is still available from GM, or at least was, and it is slightly different than the original. When installed on the car with the heater hose installed, it will probably look no different than an original because the part that is different would be covered by the hose.

All engines would have had the same nipple installed, either small block or big block, because the nipple was installed at the St.Louis plant, not the engine plant, so they all came out of the same bin.

That's my old 396 car in David's book. Wish I would have kept it.

i do not know if that is true because i have seen some that were small and pointy and some that were large and flat.

the small and pointy ones when pushed into your back that really turn your stomach.
