72 Half Shaft Size

Does anyone know what the standard lengh of the half shafts are, all of the mail order houses sell the same length for 69-82, I am looking at some on Ebay and they are 3" DIA by 13.5". It seems that the ones I took off a 72 are 13.75" unless I am measuring wrong. Also will there be any problems using the 3" DIA?

All 1963-79 Corvette half shafts were the same effective length, although I could not tell you at the moment just exactly what that length is. 1963-74 Corvette half shafts were 2-1/2" OD; 1975+ half shafts were 3" OD. After about 1977, or so, the 3" half shafts were the SERVICE half shafts for all 63+ Corvettes.

Does anyone off hand know the half shaft length, I would hate to bye wrong ones. None of the namuals or spec books disclose the length.

They measure 15 5/16" long from tip to tip on the outside of the forgings where the u-joints install.
