On C2 big blocks how close (number of days) does the Tonawanda date stamping on the front pad have to be to the casting date on the side of the block? Is this arbitrary? Also, how far can those numbers be from the car's build date? Thanx to any and all who can lend some diffinitive help on this.

Re: C2 Big Block stamping
The most definitive source for this answer is the Judging Reference Manual available from the NCRS online store. A valuable addition to your Corvette Library. The quick and dirty is that NCRS uses a six month window based on the car body build date. That is, made within six months prior.Dick Whittington- Top

Re: C2 Big Block stamping
Brent I have two 427 blocks that I have picked up over the years. Both blocks were casted on the same day but the assembly dated stamped on the pad is around thirty days apart. Hopes this helps in some way. Dale- Top

Re: C2 Big Block stamping
Dale, Sorry about that short message, but I have typed several long messages to you, and none of them went through. That short thank you was a test before I send you this message. I guess your response just about sums it up. The stamping seems to be arbitrary. It seems that these blocks just sat around the plant until someone got good and ready to stamp them and ship them off to St. Louis. Thanks again, Brent- Top
