Re: Rare 67?
There were 815 67's (coupe and convertible) that left the factory painted black. That made black the least popular exterior color of 1967 by a pretty good margin. It was available with any of the interior color options. Now, how anyone has surmised how many black coupes had red interior is beyond me, since Chevy didn't keep any records of option combinations. It is probably fairly rare, just due to the powerglide transmission. Rare does not necessarily equate to valuable. Desireable does equate to valuable.- Top

Re: Rare 67?
Agreed, rare does not equal valueable and I am not sure wherehow they came to the number of 3 black
ed 67 coupes either. I sent the site owner an email but have yet to get a response. Do you know of any other ways to prove the car came black / red from the factory? That is aside from the trim tag and tank sticker? (No other documentation can be found for this car)- Top

Re: Rare 67?
With those two pieces of documentation, I don't think anyone would question the authencicity of the color combo, unless they appear to be "doctored". It probably is a pretty rare color combo, as red had begun to fall "out of fashion" as an interior color by 67. Black interior would have probably been a more popular color choice at the time.- Top

Re: Rare 67?
Originaly I thought the Trim Tag and Tank Sticker were ideal but I have been reading seeing original Trim Tags being sold on eBay and fakes for sale and with The Tank Sheets I have read that they can be faked as well. It comes down to there is no fool proof way to ensure car options / colors. The info I have appears to be orginal and undoctured. I guess I was just looking for some reassurance that the Tirm and Tank info was in this day and age a good judge and I have that now. After all I think if someone was looking to (recreate) a black
ed car I don't think they would waste their time and money on a 300HP auto with vinyl interior! Thanks Ed & Wayne for your responses!- Top

Re: Rare 67?
That's probably a good assumption. If you disassemble the car far enough, there will usually be some evidence of a color change if there has been one. You can start looking under the door panels and kick panels, under the carpet, under the tool compartment cover, etc. If a color change has occured, there will usually be at least some evidence somewhere if you look far enough.- Top
