    fan clutch ID

This fan clutch came on my 62. I have since replaced with an original.

Can someone tell me what this came off of or what it fits? Need to get rid of it.

    Thanks, Chris

Sorry again. Some times it works fine.

Let me explain it. It looks on the engine side like my correct 62 with aluminum curved cooling fins. On the front side the metal skin is flat except for a raised center (~ .5" diameter) and 6 raised ribs around the center but at a slight angle. Make any sense?

        thanks, Chris

I still can't see the pictures. However, what you describe sounds like an aftermarket-type clutch. Does the mounting flange have 4 holes or 4 slots for mounting?

Sorry I cannot get the pictures to work.

                    The attachments are open slots.

                    Thanks

                        Chris------

In almost all cases, the slots instead of holes indicate an aftermarket-type unit. All original GM fan clutches that I am familiar with that were used in the 60-82 period had holes on the hub for attachment and not slots.

The slots are designed for a "one-size-fits-all" approach to fan clutches. The slots make them work with both the small and large flange patterns. GM fan clutches were specific for either pattern (and, other things, too).

Thanks, Joe. I will throw it on Ebay and see if anybody needs it.
