C-3 Shoulder belts

I recently looked at a 1968 sales brochure and it indicates that all 1968 Corvette COUPE models came with shoulder belts as standard equipment, not an option. Can anyone shed light on this as being correct or incorrect.

Yes, that's how it was for 1968 and 1969. The shoulder belts were standard with coupes and optional for convertibles. Not too many convertibles was so-equipped. My 69 is one of the ones that were not since I didn't order them. I mean, in 1969 who was going to order shoulder belts?

Alas, Joe that is bad news as my 68 coupe no longer has the shoulder belts. They must have been removed by the prior owner before I purchased the car in 1972. I assume this means I will have to pay a king's ransom to get the correct belts. It never ends,,,,

At least the anchors should still be there. Check the AIM for location.

And, yes, it probably won't be cheap to obtain correct belts.

Joe, You probably already know this, but only 600 '69 roadsters came with shoulder belts.

you might check with Andover Corvette they might have what you need.

A federal safety mandate made shoulder belts mandatory on all cars built after January 1, 1968, not just the Corvette.
