    '66 DIFFERENTIAL MOUNTING CUSHIONS

Can the differential mounting cushions be replaced without removing the driveshaft? It's looks kind of tight to be able to hold the bolt head while removing the nut underneath. I've only done this on a bare frame before. Thanks...

I don't think that they can. If they can, I'll bet it's more of a hassle than first removing the driveshaft and then replacing them.

      Joe,

I thought I'd need to replace the mounting cushions because of the "clunk" in the rear when I accelerated. I checked the two bolts that hold the differential to the carrier mounting bracket and found them both loose. I tightened them both and the noise has stopped. I took a close look and I think you're right, that I couldn't have removed the bolt from the top with the driveshaft in place in order to replace the cushions.
